Audio – Song Only Dropped

WW1 poem, brass text, Lark song notes, paper clips, audio track (Poem in Lark song Morse code)

375 x 150 x 20 cm

“Song Only Dropped” is a mixed-media installation featuring delicate looped chains resembling golden threads. These chains carry lines of poetry created from brass letters and birdsong notes, threaded with paper clips. The sound element translates the poem into Morse code using the Lark song. The poem is “Returning, We Hear the Larks” by Isaac Rosenberg.

This work is part of the On the Edge 2.0 Exhibition with members of the Royal Society of Sculptors who have gathered to make work to explore what it means to have a sculptural practice in today’s uncertain times. Ovada Gallery, Oxford.
